Care for Creation Mission Statement
We are called to respect and protect all of creation. This includes the natural world and all
human life, holy and precious gifts from God. In caring for our common home through
prayer, education and action, the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Care for Creation Team
seeks to restore and protect the local environment and help create a safe home for all.
The Care for Creation Team promotes environmental awareness and action in the parish,
parishioners homes, and the community through education and action projects. Our current
topics of focus are:
Pollinator Garden
Reducing and Recycling
Firewise
This is not a complete list of possible topics. Interested individuals who attend meetings
may bring up additional issues. As time and the number of group members allow, we will
work together to educate ourselves and our parish about the new issues.
Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. All
interested parishioners are invited to join us!
Our recent snow and ice storm has caused us to reschedule the Firewise Program. As you know, the church’s Care for Creation Team has distributed Firewise Program brochures describing ways to make your home and community safer from wildfires. You are invited to a follow-up meeting at which Firewise Program experts will explain the program and answer questions. There will be a short film showing how to improve the fire safety of your home. The meeting will take place in Marian Hall on Tuesday, February 8th at 6 pm. Feel free to invite your non-Catholic friends and neighbors.
