Thank you for visiting this page! Whether or not you decide to sign up to fill any of the volunteer roles listed, we would appreciate your prayers for those who do volunteer for this project, that we listen attentively to Our Lord’s leading, and follow with all humility. Prayer Team Prayer must be at the heart of this project. The Prayer Team currently is in need of volunteers for two roles: • Remote Intercessors • Adoration Guardians One characteristic of the Prayer Team roles is that anyone can fulfill them, even those who are volunteers for other Teams (e.g., Food, Environment, etc.), those who are volunteers for other roles within the Prayer Team, those who do not or cannot attend the Sessions at all, and even those who do not even live in our area! Remote Intercessors: We need a large pool of Remote Intercessors, because we want someone to pray for each of the Guests who attend The Rescue Project this summer (first name only). If you sign up to be a Remote Intercessor, you will be assigned one (or more) Guests for whom to pray for the duration of the Sessions (June 7 through July 26). It would be wonderful to have enough Remote Intercessors volunteer so that we can assign to each of them a single Guest for whom to pray. We refer to this role as "Remote Intercessor" because such volunteers can perform this role even if they cannot or choose not to attend the Sessions. But of course, if you sign up to be a Remote Intercessor you can also to attend the Sessions – and perhaps even meet the person you are praying for. And since in this case you would also be a Guest, you could also meet the person who is praying for you!
Adoration Guardians: We have been blessed to have a special hour of adoration from 2:45-3:45 for each of the Saturdays on which we hold a Session. This time is for people, who may have been moved by what they have experienced, to sit in silence before their Lord and further listen to his voice. Of course, we won’t know in advance how many who attend as Guests will be so moved. But we do know that we need at least two people in the church to sit with Our Lord as Adoration Guardians during these times. This role could be particularly well suited for those who plan to attend both the Sessions as well as 4:30 Mass. Of course, to be an Adoration Guardian you don’t need to attend the Sessions or to attend 4:30 Mass. Nor do you need to sign up for every Saturday. On the sign-up link you can select the day (or days) for which you would like to volunteer.
Food Team The Food Team is responsible for feeding our Guests. The Food Team currently is in need of volunteers for two roles: • Volunteers to Prepare Food • Volunteers to Serve Food We realize that a seven-week commitment is a lot to ask, so we are asking people to volunteer on the Food Team for One Day, either as a preparer or a server of food. To volunteer to be a member of The Rescue Project Food Team, please click here. Volunteers to Prepare Food: Volunteers are needed to prepare food for our Guests. Volunteers to Help Serve Food: Volunteers are needed to help serve food for our Guests.
Environment Team The Environment Team is responsible for ensuring a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere for our Guests. The Environment Team currently is in need of volunteers for two roles: • Volunteers to Help Prepare the Environment • Volunteers to Help Put Away Decorations To volunteer to be a member of The Rescue Project Environment Team, please click here.
Volunteers to Help Prepare the Environment: Volunteers are needed to help decorate the facility and place table settings prior to the start of a Session. Volunteers to Help Put Away Decorations: Volunteers are needed to help put away decorations after the end of a Session.
Set-Up/Clean-Up Team The Set-Up/Clean-Up Team is responsible for putting the space in order for our Guests prior to the Session, and returning it to order for our parish. The Set-Up/Clean-Up Team currently is in need of volunteers for four roles, including a Lead for this Team. • Volunteers to Help With Set-Up • Volunteers to Help With General Clean-Up • Volunteers to Clean Serving and Eating Utensils • A Volunteer to Lead this Team To volunteer to be a member of The Rescue Project Set-Up/Clean-Up Team, please click here.
Volunteers to Help with Set-Up: Volunteers are needed to temporarily put away unused tables and chairs prior to each Session start, set up the trash can, “dump liquids here” bucket and sign, and soapy water buckets for utensils, and help other teams with various duties that are beyond their capabilities, as needed. Volunteers to Help with General Clean-Up: Volunteers are needed to help empty trash and the “dump liquids here” bucket during the Session. After the Session they are needed to empty trash and take to the dumpster (someone with a truck would be helpful for this), wipe down any tables that were used, put back any tables and chairs that were put away prior to the Session, as well as sweep and mop the kitchen floor. Volunteers to Clean Serving and Eating Utensils Volunteers are needed to wash, rinse and sterilize the serving utensils and stainless flatware used during the Session. Also, to wash the dish towels at home, and bring them back to the kitchen area once cleaned. Set-Up/Clean-Up Team Lead A volunteer is needed to head up the Set-Up/Clean-Up Team, recruiting volunteers for Set-Up and Clean-Up responsibilities, and ensuring there is sufficient coverage at each Session. The
Team Lead would also be present on the day of the Sessions to ensure smooth operation of Set- Up and Clean-Up activities, or to find a substitute as needed.
